NEW BOOK

This is my newest book Fretless Bass, an in depth look at fretless. It covers everything from strings, fingerboards, intonation to theory, melodic ideas and grooves. It has a bunch of well known songs from fretless masters like Jaco and Pino.

It's not a bunch of licks...

06.26.2008 - Solo Project Update
Hi everybody,

Things are going great, I'm about 90% done with my original solo album and
it's really coming together. Del Bennett and I should be done soon very
soon. We just have some guitar to add and horns and it will be finished.

We have some great guitarists on it.Greg Koch, Steve Peplin, Kirk Tatnall,
Joe Gorman, Mike DeRose. to finish up we will get Jack Grassel, Peter Mac
and Jeff Serkowski.

My book Creative Basslines is in for an edit and should be out in fall '08.
The book is about being creative in every sense of the word.

My girlfriend Barbara Stephan's album just came out you can check it out at
<http://www.barbarastephan.com/> www.barbarastephan.com if you want to hear
some contemporary intelligent pop with great energy. Great stuff.

I've been doing production on a new series for Hal Leonard called Easy
Guitar. It's keeping me quite busy. I had to update my studio which has made
me quite happy, though I seem to never leave it.

I'm also mixing a engineering a project for a band called Fibonacci Sequence
that is a bit progressive, I'll let you know when it's done.

My bud Father Joe Rodriguez is doing a new album I'm producing; this will be
his second album. I did his first album which was a fundraiser for Jordan
Ministries which has raised over $35,000.

I'll post some new mp3s pretty soon; I have some live fusion and jazz gigs
that you may dig with Kirk Tatnall and John Calarco.

I plan to do an overhaul on the website with a bunch of new stuff around
September so check back then for the new stuff.

Blessings

Chris

What's up? Gigs are finally slower.thank you universe.

For you Cynic fans it is official a summer reunion tour is on. Awaiting details around that. I'll keep you posted when I know. Just finished the audio for my fretless book so that should be going to print soon. Oteil Burbridge was in town shooting a DVD for Hal Leonard so I was involved in the script and DVD shoot. What a great guy and one of my favorite players, a kindred spirit. I backed him up on a few examples on the DVD so look for that to hit stores in the spring. Thanks Oteil! Peppermink is still recording. Barb is writing a catalog of songs, now we just have to catch up to her. Del and I are working slowly on the album project, it will get there. Still transcribing Marcus Miller.I'll feel free when it's over. What a blessing and man it's allot of work/time. Some other studio projects, I'll let you know when they are done. Many blessings to you all. Kringel

04.11.2006 - New Website Update
Patience my friends, the webiste will be done by summer. On other fronts, I am finishing my 5th book - "Creative Bass Lines". Also, finishing the audio for "Fretless Bass" which should be in stores by early Fall 2006.

Been working on album that will be completed by the end of '06 - No, I am not lying this time. This project is a partnership with Del Bennett on drums. It will be a Bass and Drum extravaganza!

Hitting the studio with Peppermink featuring Kostia, Mike DeRose and Barbara Stephan. And last but never least, Hal Leonard has me transcribing the Marcus Miller Collection which may lead to Paxil and Xanax overdose.

Go ahead email me your comments.

06.20.2005 - Aeon Spoke Tour
So I am minding my own business, drinking coffee in my boxers when the guys from Aeon Spoke called. Turns out they were heading out on a little tour and wanted to know if I could pick some bass strings with them. It took me about five seconds to say yes and the next thing I know I am standing in line getting my passport updated.

We will be hitting LA before moving on to New York City and the UK. Keep an eye on the schedule pages to see when our next gig will be. If you are in the area come buy me a drink

02.03.2005 - PepperMink
Working on charts for a debut of another new band called Peppermink.yes it's a new funk band with Barb Stephani, Del Bennet and Jeff Serkowski.so that is one more band to add to the list: The Soul Dealers, Atomic Willis, Barb Stephani, Peppermink, Inda Eaton, Group Therapy, HeBeGeBe, and all the other gigs I sub or play with.keeps the music different and exciting.

Also starting an every Wednesday jazz gig, which will be great for me to keep up on my upright playing.

Oh yeah.the Tsunami benefit was an absolute blast, one of those great gigs that don't happen too often.one of my favorites to date.

I was nominated for a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) award for bassist of the year. That is a real honor.Thankssssssss.

01.01.2005 - Updates from "K"
I am doing an Afro Cuban rehearsal every Monday with Kim and Connie from Mrs. Fun, that has been a real gift musically. Practicing new things with others is great. Mixing Zach's album several times I have about 3 more session and the mix will be done.

Tsunami benefit at the end of the month with Mrs. Fun, Steve Peplin, Deirdre Fellner, Barbara Stephani, and a whole cast of characters.should be a musical blast.

12.10.2004 - Gigging, Gigging and Gigging
Yeah I said I'd slow down but NO, I'm past 200 gigs this year (2004) well shit happens, I hate turning down gigs. This year I'm going to try to slow down a bit on live gigs to concentrate on some studio projects and other stuff. Not to mention time to finish this site! My fourth book Fretless Bass through Hal Leonard will be coming out in the next 6 months.

Zachary Wade's debut CD is almost done, I'm producing that one. One of my new bands called The Soul Dealers is working on an album.
